“Connections of Hope” Destination Imagination Team from Aylor Middle School Heading to Globals
13 May 2019
We were in the studio today with Cathy Udy, her daughter Jackie, Makenna Blair, Addy Wallin & Ryan Ames to talk about their upcoming trip to Destination Imagination‘s global competition taking place in Kansas City, MO at the end of May.
We talked about the DI program, how & why the team chose their project and learned what the competition involves and what it would mean to these seventh graders to compete and win.
The team filled me in on how much work went into their community service project to help homeless & needy families in their community and told me about the emotional impact it had on each of them.
They’ve planned some fundraisers to help them cover their costs to compete. You can support them by attending their Spaghetti Dinner on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Macedonia Church in White Post, VA from 4pm – 6pm. Adult dinner is $7; Children 12 and younger are $5. They are still accepting items for their silent auction. You can contact Sarah via email to: firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
You can donate via their GoFundMe page here: https://www.gofundme.com/connections-of-hope-headed-to-di-globals
