Jenni VanCuren an associate professor for Lord Fairfax Community College has been named the Virginia/ West Virginia Regional Coordinator for Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society for two year colleges. She is a published author and has received other awards including the 2017 distinguished advisers award. VanCuren reportedly said, “Honor societies are important because it offers opportunities to recognize students academic achievements. It also gives opportunities for scholarships.”

Warren County Public Schools is now part of a new federal program providing free meals for children, where they live. The program targets children ranging from the age of 1 to 18 and is currently available in Front Royal at four locations; The Royal Arms Apartments at 401 East Criser Rd, the Royal Hill Apartments at 31 Royal Lane, Shenandoah Commons at 9 Shenandoah Commons Way, and the Skyline Vista Apartments at 343 Kendrick Lane. according to published reports the locations were chosen to accommodate the largest number of children possible. The program is expected to continue into next year, but is subject to changes as the needs of students and children change.
