9 April 2018

John Handley High School and the Top of Virginia Regional Chamber of Commerce will be showcasing area businesses this Friday, April 13th, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Handley Business Symposium. The event will be held at John Handley High School, and all proceeds and donations from that day will go to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Winchester-Frederick-Clarke. The symposium’s purpose is to bring business professionals and educators together with students in the Winchester, Frederick and Clarke County area who are interested in exploring a career in various business and technical fields.  It will include a keynote address, breakout sessions, business fair/networking sessions, soft interviews for employment and internships, and a summer job and internship fair.

And Shenandoah County is inviting all students from grades 6 through 12 to attend their Summer Fine Arts Academy. The academy will take place from June 18 to June 22nd. Students will have the chance to participate in a Jazz band and an a cappella group, as well as the opportunity to learn about the visual arts and improvisational theater. Those interested in attending must turn in a filled out application complete with a fine arts teacher recommendation to their school’s main office by Wednesday, April 18th.
