If you’ve ever watched a movie or television program where some of the characters are British you may have heard the word bollocks. The program I have in mind is Murdock Mysteries. Inspector Brackenreid is heard, quite often, saying “bollocks.” So what is he actually saying? The word is of Middle English origin and means testicles. When Inspector Brackenreid says it he means to say “nonsense.” The word has a long history dating back to the 13th Century, or before. One early reference is actually from Wycliffe’s Bible from 1382, in the book of Leviticus, 22:24. That references the original definition of the word. The slang use of the word dates back to the 17th century. Hopefully you didn’t find this fun fact bollocks.
