Fun Fact December 1, 2020.
1 December 2020
It’s the first day of the twelfth month and the last of seven months to have 31 days. December got it’s name from the Latin Decem, which means ten, because in the Roman calendar it was the tenth month. That calendar began in March and the winter days after the end of December weren’t included in any month. Later, the months of January and February were created out of the monthless period and added to the beginning of the calendar, but December retained its name. Something to look forward to this month, besides the obvious, is the day with the least daylight hours know as the Winter Solstice. That occurs on the 21st and ushers in winter officially.
