Ready for an odd idiom? Have you ever heard “you can’t pluck feathers off a bald chicken?” Neither had I, until I did a quick internet search. And you know what, this wasn’t even the weirdest one that popped up! It’s a Dutch saying that means you can’t get money from someone who has none or you can’t get blood from a stone. I’m not Dutch, but here goes; van een kale kip kan je geen veren pluken. I was trying to channel the Swedish Chef off the Muppets, but that’s Swedish, not Dutch. It may be easier to pluck feathers off a bald chicken than try to say the idiom in it’s native language. My apologies to any of you who are of Dutch heritage.
