How many times have you forgotten your password? A bunch, I’ll bet. For one type of bird, forgetting the password is a life or death situation. The Cowbird lays it’s eggs in the nests of other birds and the baby bird is raised by a foster family. Eventually the young Cowbird needs to reconnect with it’s own type and according to Science Daily, when that time comes, the young birds have a trick for figuring out who to reach out to. “Juvenile cowbirds readily recognize and affiliate with other cowbirds. That’s because they have a secret handshake or password,” To put it more simply, they use “a specific chatter call” to beckon each other. And they say being a bird brain is a bad thing.
