Fun Fact November 27, 2020.
27 November 2020
Today is known as “Black Friday.” The day after Thanksgiving is the traditional beginning of the holiday shopping season. The day when retailers hope to entice you with their one day deals and longer shopping hours. The term Black Friday was first used in Philadelphia in 1961 when police there described the increased foot and vehicle traffic the day after Thanksgiving. Although not a Federal holiday, many schools and non retail businesses are closed. Black Friday is the day that retailers hope to have enough sales to push them from being in the red to being in the black, financially. Hard to tell what today will bring to brick and mortar businesses given our current pandemic situation. I’m sure that many purchases will be done online this year. If you are going to brave the crowds, please wear a mask, maintain your physical distance, be patient and wash your hands!
