Fall is upon us and for some that means pumpkin spice everything. Before you spice up your pumpkin consider this; In Spain to give someone pumpkins means that you are rejecting them or turning them down. It is one of the colorful idioms you’ll find in Spain. The phrase has it’s roots in Ancient Greece where pumpkins were considered an anti aphrodisiac. Here in the states pumpkin is sometimes used as a term of endearment, sort of like honey or darling. Pumpkins are also a symbol of prosperity, growth and abundance because of their ability to grow in poor soil.
