Having a Happy & Safe Summer: Food Safety, Gardening & Cooking with the Kids
19 June 2020
We pre-recorded today’s conversation via Zoom with SNAP education agent Molly Beardslee, housed in Page County, under the Family & Consumer Sciences Food, Nutrition & Health Program of the Virginia Cooperative Extension Office to talk about how to have a happy & safe summer.
Molly gave us some tips for food safety that included leaving food out during a cookout and some grilling advice. She also talked about ways to keep the kids involved and active by getting them interested in gardening (growing their own vegetables) and cooking (preparing what they grow.)

Funding for their program comes from the USDA’s Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) to offer Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) in Virginia.
