Radio Therapy: Mental Health in the Age of COVID-19
4 September 2020
We pre-recorded today’s conversation via Zoom for a little radio therapy with Tiffany Markwood, LCSW & Molly Tahmaseb, LCSW from Winchester Medical Center’s Outpatient Behavioral Health Services.
Our conversation centered around mental health in the age of COVID-19 and we discussed three scenarios where Tiffany & Molly gave suggestions, strategies and tools to cope with the stress that comes from the changes we’re all experiencing during the pandemic:
- How to stop playing the “What If” game – what if I get COVID? What if a family member gets COVID? What if I lose my job?
- How to cope with the anti-social nature of COVID – when you’re used to being around friends, family, co-workers and now most of that is done on a screen instead of in person.
- How to deal with friends, family & co-workers who have different opinions and thoughts on the current state of the country – politics, wearing a mask, etc. How do you maintain a relationship without arguing all the time?
In addition to today’s show, recently Valley Health published an article offering mental health tips. You can read Back to School: A Mental Health Conversation by clicking here.
