Shenandoah Valley Cross Country League

We pre-recorded today’s conversation via Zoom with Shenandoah University‘s Cross Country & Track Coach, Andy Marrocco to talk about the newly formed Shenandoah Valley Cross Country League that will compete at Kernstown Battlefield.
The Shenandoah Valley Cross Country League season will begin with a 5K race on September 25, 2020 followed on October 9, 2020 with a second 5K race. The third race in the series will be a 3K race on October 23, 2020 with the final “regular season” race taking place on November 14, 2020 as a 6K competition. There season will end with a 5K championship race on November 21, 2020 featuring the top 35
males and top 35 females, plus the next five leaders in each age group, based on collective race time totals from the four regular-season races.
Andy explained how/why the league was formed and the benefits of partnering with Kernstown Battlefield where the races will take place. He walked us through the COVID-19 protocols that will be in place to ensure the safety of the runners and talked about the importance of being able to compete for local athletes.
