Tourism Tuesday: Shenandoah County’s Outdoor Recreation Guide
2 June 2020
We pre-recorded our conversation with Kary Haun over Zoom for this episode of Tourism Tuesday – Shenandoah County edition. We reference “watching” the show several times – you can do that on our YouTube channel here: https://youtu.be/Cyt_E5Z3TJE
We talked about the status of various businesses throughout the county that are now in different stages of opening. Kary talked about how impressed she was that so many of them were so creative in how they managed to remain open and offer their products and services. She mentioned a few like Rt.11 Potato Chips in Mt. Jackson offering a pick-up window, and Suzanne’s Studio in Woodstock offering pottery to-go kits. She also talked about many of the restaurants expanding their outdoor seating now that they Governor’s order allows for more patrons within an establishment. She encouraged everyone to visit their COVID-19 page for a complete list of who’s open when and offering what on their website: https://www.visitshenandoahcounty.com/covid-19/
We also talked about the new Outdoor Recreation Guide and all the great information it includes for hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping and more. You can pick up a copy at most of the local hotels, restaurants, wineries and breweries, or fill out the form on their website (https://www.visitshenandoahcounty.com/request-a-visitors-guide/) to have one mailed to you. Cary told us about all the background work and research that went into producing the Outdoor Recreation Guide that has an awesome fold-out map in the back.
Finally, Kary told me about the various blogs that can be found on their website giving you ideas of things to do throughout the county including the one she’s working on now about country stores. It’s scheduled to be published later this week. You can find them here: https://www.visitshenandoahcounty.com/plan-you-trip/travel-blog/
