The Valley Business Today: Valley Star Farm
9 December 2020
We pre-recorded today’s conversation via Zoom for The Valley Business Today – Luray/Page County edition – with Edie Emmons from Luray/Page County Chamber of Commerce, and her guest Dave Thomas, owner of Valley Star Farm.
Dave told us how he came to be a Christmas tree farmer and explained/described the different types of trees on his farm. He also offered several tips for keeping your tree alive throughout the holiday season. The began growing trees in the 1990’s and pumpkins in 2000.
Valley Star Farms offers White Pine, Norway Spruce, Colorado Blue Spruce, Canaan Fir, Concolor Fir and Fraser Fir. You have several options for finding and purchasing your tree from the full experience (search, find, cut drag) or staff can help with the cutting and dragging part. And, if you don’t want to venture into the fields, they have fresh cut trees available.
In addition to trees, you can purchase wreaths, centerpieces, swags, bows and more – custom orders as well. Plus they offer pine roping in 30 and 75 foot lengths.
Valley Star Farm is located 3 miles north of Luray, just off U.S. Highway 340; less than 10 minutes away from Luray Caverns and Skyline Drive. They are open Monday – Friday: 3:00 PM – 5:30 PM; Saturday and Sunday: 10 AM – 5:30 PM through December 22, 2020.
