Winchester Public Schools: Summer School & Re-Opening in the Fall
8 July 2020
We pre-recorded today’s conversation via Zoom with Dr. Jason Van Heukelum, Superintendent of Winchester Public Schools to talk about their summer school program which kicked off this week and what school opening may look like in the fall.
- the safety precautions that have been put in place for their summer school program that started on Monday for grades K-12 and the reasons behind offering the in-person classes;
- their meals program that ensures all students and their families have appropriate food during the pandemic break and throughout the summer;
- what re-opening in the fall might look like that includes a combination of virtual classes & in-person classes two days a week; masks, social distancing and transportation issues.
For more information about their plans, visit their website: https://www.wps.k12.va.us/
After our show aired, this message was placed on their website regarding distance learning and transportation registration:
* 100% Distance Learning & Transportation Registration *
Please review this very important message from Dr. Van Heukelum for all WPS Families regarding registration for the Fall 2020 school semester 100% Distance Learning option as well as registration for bus transportation. We ask that families please submit one response per student if they are requesting to register in the 100% Distance Learning option OR if they are requesting for their student to ride the school bus. The letter contains important information that we ask you to read and understand before making these two very important decisions. Please carefully review the letter HERE
