Tourism Tuesday: Winchester Wings & Wheels event

23 April 2019

We were in the studio for Tourism Tuesday – Winchester/Frederick County edition – with Justin Kerns from Winchester/Frederick County Convention & Visitors Bureau and his guests, Nick Sabo, Director of Winchester Regional Airport & Chris Daniels, owner of 0-60 Energy Cafe, to talk about their upcoming event Winchester Wings & Wheels happening on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 10am – 2pm at the Winchester Regional Airport.

We talked about how the event came together and got all the details about this first-time, family-friendly, free event that will highlight classic cars and a variety of aircraft:

Keep the kids entertained in the Kids Zone
Check out classic cars – and vote for your favorite
Get an up-close look at the aircraft on display
Visit a wide variety of exhibitors and vendors
Grab a bite from several food trucks
While admission is free, a donation will be accepted to benefit The Arc of Northern Shenandoah Valley.

For more information about the event or if you’re interested in being a vendor, visit their website: winchesterwingsandwheels.com and follow them on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/winchesterwingsandwheels/

Wings for Autism® and Wings for All®, one of The Arc’s newest national initiatives, are airport “rehearsals” specially designed for individuals with autism spectrum disorders and people with other intellectual/developmental disabilities, their families and aviation professionals. Wings for Autism® and Wings for All® are designed to alleviate some of the stress that families who have a child with autism experience when traveling by air. The programs provides families with the opportunity to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security and boarding a plane.
Wings for Autism was created by Charles River Center, an affiliated chapter of The Arc, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Port Authority.
