Preparation for the advancing weather is recommended

A variety of precipitation is falling in the entire region along with exceptionally high winds and bitter cold expected.

Several warnings and watches are in place throughout the region through the weekend.

Governor Jim Justice has declared a State of Preparedness for all 55 counties in West Virginia through the holiday weekend.

The declaration directs the state’s emergency operations center and partner agencies to prepare to respond quickly should emergencies develop.

The West Virginia emergency operations center will be staffed through the weekend to monitor the situation around the clock.

Both Shenandoah Valley Electric (SVEC) and Rappahannock Electric Cooperatives (REC) are recommending storm preparation and are prepared for quick response should outages occur.

Both Cooperatives have storm information at svec.coop and myrec.coop.

Virginia’s Department of Transportation (VDOT) have treated the roads and stands at the ready to treat as weather condition warrant.
