Proposed pay hike for Clarke schools raised to 7%
The Clarke County School Board, which two weeks ago proposed a 5% pay raise for teachers and staff in its 2021 fiscal year budget, is now backing a 7% salary increase for all school system employees in order to stay competitive with Winchester and Frederick County schools. An across-the-board 7% pay increase would require a total appropriation of $16,805,622 from the county Board of Supervisors which would widen the pay gap between how much the school board wants and how much the supervisors are currently willing to give.
