Rabies Risk Discovered in Shenandoah County
A stray black cat that tested positive for rabies was in an altercation with a resident on Massanutten Drive, in Edinburg on June 27, 2019.
The cat was caught and euthanized, according to the Lord Fairfax Health District. If anyone believes they had any contact with a stray black cat in this area, it should be considered a potential rabies exposure. This applies to humans and domestic animals. Any person or pet who may have been exposed should receive immediate medical attention. The Shenandoah County Health Department can be reached by phone at 540-459-3733.
