FRONT ROYAL – The Rappahannock Electric Cooperative announced the return of their Community Scholarship. The educational funding has been provided to local residents since 1996.
The scholarship fund will provide 15 $1,000 scholarships and two $2500 scholarships to assist local students. If a student is currently enrolled in college, a high school senior planning on attending college or a student planning on attending a trade school next year, they can be eligible for scholarship funds. Any applicants parent or guardian must also be an REC member-owner to apply for support from the Cooperative.
“It’s important that REC is actively involved in supporting local communities and the Community Scholarship is a great way to help our youth,” Senior Public Relations Specialist Brian Wolfe said in a press release.
Applications for the Community Scholarship can be found online. The applications are due on Jan. 27, 2020. Recipients of the award funds will be notified in March of next year.
