Reports of a dust falling from the sky in the tri-state area

Hampshire County 911 center and other locations around the tri-state area report an unknown dust-like substance accumulating on cars and surfaces.

Authorities are asking citizens experiencing this strange phenomenon not to call your emergency number but to use non-emergency numbers to report the substance.

You will need to be prepared to give your name, address and contact information to be logged by the environmental agencies involved in the investigation.

The substance was reported falling from the sky in several areas late Feb. 23 to be discovered early Feb. 24.

The substance has been reported from Hampshire, Berkeley, Frederick Counties and in Washington County Maryland.

There is no conclusion as to what the substance is currently.

Emergency management suggest staying inside and turning off any device that introduces outside air into the residence if you are concerned about the substance.
