Rockingham County breaks ground for a Buc-ees Center

Governor Glenn Youngkin and Rockingham County dignitaries and community members gathered January 30 for the official groundbreaking for a large new travel center.

Buc-ees a Texas based travel center has chosen Mount Crawford as its first of two projected operations in Virginia.

Buc-ees has purchased just over 21 acres in Rockingham County for $6.6 million.

The facility will take up 74,000 square feet off of Interstate 81.

This Buc-ees location will offer over 120 fueling stations including over 20 electric vehicle charging stations.

The facility will employ over 200 citizens and park over 600 vehicles once completed.

Buc-ees has also made a purchase of almost 28 acres for $6.5 million in New Kent County for a second Virginia Site off Interstate 64.

The Rockingham County Buc-ees is expected to open by summer 2025.

Established in 1982 Buc-ees has 34 stores in Texas and 13 centers in other states.
