SABF Veterans Dinner announces new speaker

A new speaker was added  to the line up at the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival’s Veterans Dinner Show.

Joining the evening is Master Chief Hospital Corpsman Amanda McDevitt.

She first enlisted as a hospital Corpsman in December of 2000 and has served on a variety of assignments at the Branch Medical Clinic Air Station in Atlanta, USS Theodore Roosevelt, Naval Submarine Support Center Kings Bay and Submarine Forces Atlantic among others.

She was also deployed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and twice in the Western Pacific.

In 2015, she was selected for the pilot cadre for the Enlisted Women in Submarines program.

Upon graduation from Basic Enlisted Submarine School, she became the first enlisted woman to report for duty on the USS Michigan.

She advanced to her current position of Master Chief in 2020.

Since then, McDevitt has since facilitated engagements throughout the fleet to discuss the integration of women in the submarine force.

She was recently selected and will report to Fleet Forces Command to serve as the Atlantic Fleet Medical Master Chief.

Her personal awards include the Joint Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards) and various other personal and unit awards.
