SCPS and SCSO partner for vaping and drug initiative
Shenandoah County Public Schools and Sheriff’s Office are partnering up to help inform students and parents about the dangers of vaping and drugs according to a recent announcement.
The school district and sheriff’s office will also review their current Memorandum of Understanding to ensure clear collaboration protocols are in place if a student overdoses.
The announcement also highlighted Governor Youngkin’s executive order in November that requires schools to notify parents within 24 hours of a school-connected overdose.
Both organizations released a Public Service Announcement along with the updates which focused on the dangers of Fentanyl and brought up the recent arrest in Shenandoah County of an individual with 3,500 fentanyl pills and the discovery of fentanyl in a student’s vehicle by a security officer earlier this school year.
