November 8, 2019
WINCHESTER – Transform Holdco, the parent company of Sears and KMart, announced that they will close 96 stores in the United States by February 2020. One of those stores closing is the Sears in the Apple Blossom Mall.
The current plan is for the store to begin its liquidation sales the first week of December. Then, the Sears will close down by February of next year.
Sears Holdings filed for bankruptcy in 2018. It was eventually purchased by one of the old CEO’s for the company, Eddie Lampert. Ever since then, Sears and KMart stores around the country have been closing down. Originally, Transform Holdco planned on shuttering 122 Sears and KMart stores by January of the new year. The latest addition will close 51 more Sears stores come February.
