Secretary of Transportation Hosts Highway Cleanup
Ahead of the Commonwealth Transportation Board’s public feedback and informational meeting today (4/22/2019) for the Staunton District, Secretary of Transportation Shannon Valentine will meet with transportation leaders to help clean up litter this Earth Day.
The litter cleanup will take place on Route 256 in the area of Weyers Cave, close to the Shenandoah Valley Regional Airport. Participants will start cleaning litter at 2 p.m. after holding a safety meeting at the airport and receiving equipment. The feedback meeting will follow at 4 p.m. at the Blue Ridge Community College’s Plecker Center. Citizens from the Staunton District, which encompasses the Northern Shenandoah Valley, will be able to learn more about the draft of the CTB’s Six Year Improvement Plan and share their thoughts at the public feedback meeting. VTrans, Virginia’s long-range, statewide, multimodal transportation plan, will also be a topic of discussion.
