September 1st Deadline Approaching for Top of Virginia Regional Chamber Valor Awards Nominations

The Top of Virginia Regional Chamber in collaboration with the police, sheriff, and fire and rescue departments in Winchester, Clarke and Frederick Counties reminds you that Friday, September 1st is the last day to submit your nomination for their 5th Annual Valor Awards which honors public safety personnel and ordinary citizens for their courageous and often lifesaving actions. The Valor Awards event will be held on November 2, 2017. Nominations can come from staff with the local police and sheriffs’ departments, fire departments, or from community citizens.
“This is an opportunity for us to recognize the outstanding work and heroism that occurs in our community,” said Richard Kennedy, CEO for Top of Virginia Regional Chamber. “We want to thank our unsung heroes for their sacrifice to make our community safe,” he said.
Last year, over 60 public safety personnel and citizens were honored for extraordinary acts of courage. Categories include the Citizen’s Award, Lifesaving Award, and the Awards of Valor, among others. These awards will acknowledge acts that went above and beyond the call of duty during the time period of July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017.
The Valor Awards ceremony will be held November 2, 2017 at the Best Western Lee-Jackson Inn & Conference Center from 6:00 – 8:30 p.m. The event is open to the public. Registration will be open and the names of nominees will be revealed in September. Nominations are due no later than September 1.
