STRASBURG – Christopher Todd Miller was indicted for standing within 100 feet of a public playground for the purpose of having contact with children not in his custody. Miller is a convicted sex offender and is not to be present around children.

He was arrested by Strasburg Police on Aug. 6, after several officers saw Miller walking near groups of children and other people inside the Strasburg Town Park that evening. After searching Miller, the arresting officers found a smoking device that contained marijuana. He has been held at the Rappahannock-Shenandoah-Warren Regional Jail without bond.

On Oct. 22 Miller attended a hearing at the Shenandoah General Court where a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge was dropped. On Nov. 13, a Shenandoah Circuit Court Grand Jury indicted him on initial charge of standing within 100 feet of a playground. His next hearing, where he will submit his plea and be sentenced, is scheduled for Nov. 20.

Miller has a long criminal record that includes pleading guilty to abduction, multiple bomb threats, possession of explosive material as a felon, violation of probation and aggravated sexual assault.
