Shen. Co. Sheriff Carter selected to set Marcus Alert standards

Shenandoah County Sheriff Timothy C. Carter has been selected to be a part of the statewide Marcus Alert initiative.
This initiative creates a statewide plan for handling mental health issues in cases of emergency.
As well as handling substance use, developmental disabilities or brain injuries involving law enforcement.
This is an effort to implement statewide standards when responding to emergency calls to ensure Virginians with disabilities receive proper care.
This mandates will include appropriate accommodations, compassion, no force-first response from law enforcement during behavioral health calls.
