Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival Recognized as One of Expedia’s Top 25 Springtime Travel Destinations

10 March 2017 News

As it approaches its 90th Birthday in 2017, the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival® easily ranks as the largest event of its type in the Commonwealth of Virginia in scope and scale; and, is well-known and well-regarded as one of the Top Ten annual events throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region, the Northeast and the Ohio Valley. Since the turn of the Millennium, along with numerous local awards, the Festival has been honored with a long string of national-level awards and commendations; and, these have been increasing in frequency in recent years. The Festival’s latest accolade comes in an online “Viewfinder” article produced by travel-giant, Expedia. The article, by Chloe Mulliner, is headlined: “Say ‘see ya’ to winter in these 25 cities;” and, it is subtitled: “Celebrating the change in seasons in these top destinations.”

Ms. Mulliner writes (in part): “We’ve come up with some of the top destinations to go this time of year. Our roundup of the best spring vacations includes cities where the snow is still fresh and areas where wildflowers are popping up in full force. We took a lot of factors in account, such as scenery, average temperatures, attractions, and activities to bring you the ultimate list (in no particular order) of the best places to travel in spring.” The third city listed is Winchester, Virginia; and, the article continues: “Winchester may be known as the Apple Capital, but that doesn’t mean you have to wait until autumn to enjoy its harvest. This year the Virginia city is celebrating its 90th annual Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival®, a 10-day extravaganza of wine fests, apple pie baking contests, concerts, pageants, and one of the world’s largest firefighter parades.”

Other recent awards and commendations earned by the Festival include:
