
Shenandoah County Supervisor Neese dies in I-81 crash

Chairman of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors John Richard “Dick” Neese, 71, died as a result of a single vehicle accident on I-81 early Saturday morning.
According to a news release from Virginia State Police, Neese was traveling south on I-81 when he ran off the side of the road and collided with a tree. A medical emergency is considered as a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
Neese served on the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors since first elected in 2002, representing District 1. During his tenure, he served as chairman, vice chairman, and a representative on a variety of committees and commissions. His current four-year term was set to expire in 2021.
