Shenandoah Co. Finds 2nd Rabid Animal in One Week
A rabid fox was discovered in southwestern Shenandoah County on Sunday (6/2/2019).
The Lord Fairfax Health District notified the public in a release yesterday (6/6/2019) that the ill-appearing fox was found in the vicinity of South Middle Road, and that LFHD is unaware of any contact between the fox and other animals before it was captured and tested. This comes less than a week after a rabid red fox was discovered in the 200 block of Solomon’s Church Road in nearby Quicksburg. Any person or domestic animal that may have come in contact with a fox in the South Middle Road area in the last two weeks should receive a medical evaluation immediately.
