Shenandoah Schools to Consider New School Calendar

6 November 2018 Shenandoah County News

Shenandoah County Public Schools is now putting forth another new school calendar proposal.

The new calendar would give students the entire week of the county fair off, and is coming in response to backlash from a calendar proposed in October; if approved, that calendar would not have given students off the entire week of the fair, but instead showed the 2019-2020 school year as only scheduling two days off at the end of that week. A petition from parents to schedule the entire week of the county fair off garnered 303 signatures as of yesterday (11/05/2018) afternoon, and Superintendent Mark Johnston drafted the new calendar to add that change. It’s expected to be presented this Thursday for a School Board vote.
