Shenandoah University Breaks Ground on Student Residence

16 April 2018 News

Shenandoah University held a groundbreaking ceremony for the third student residence building in its Village complex on Saturday, April 14th.

Named “Dove’s Nest,” the building will house 24 upperclassmen, providing apartment-style living for S.U.’s student leaders in four bedroom, 1,600 square-foot suites. The other two residences in the Village complex–Caruthers House and Roni’s Roost–opened in the fall of 2016. Dove’s Nest is expected to be completed by fall of 2019, and will make the Village home to a total of 72 students.

Shenandoah University’s total vision for the village includes five buildings housing 120 students, a sand volleyball court, an outdoor grill, and a fire pit. In addition to providing housing close to the university’s libraries and student center, school officials were quoted as saying that the village apartments are an important first step for students towards adulthood.
