Shihadeh Innovation Center Gets Over $500K

Yesterday (3/13/2019), Governor Ralph Northam announced that Winchester’s Emil and Grace Shihadeh Innovation Center will be one of seven project across Virginia to receive a combined $6.7 million in Growth and Opportunity Virginia Funding.

These GO Virginia grants are for projects identified as vital to diversifying regional economies and strengthening their workforce. The Shihadeh Innovation Center project, which will be constructed through a partnership of Winchester Public Schools and LFCC in the former John Kerr Elementary School, received  $540,000. Scheduled to be complete in 2020, it will offer a Professional Skills Academy, a Health Sciences Academy, and an Information Technology Academy to equip students with career skills.
