Social Media Monday promotes 2020 Census
Gov. Northam has announced a Virtual Statewide Week of Action to promote the 2020 Census, which can be taken online. Throughout the week there will be several events to highlight the Census. The goal is for every household in Virginia to be accounted for.
Today’s event is Social Media Monday. Virginians are invited to participate in a Twitter chat about what is at stake in the 2020 Census. Virginians are encouraged to promote the Census using the hashtags #Census2020, #VACompleteCount and #CountOnVirginia. Individuals are also encouraged to change their profile picture frame on Facebook to promote the Census.
Historically, the census could not be completed online, via phone or via mail. However, due to the current pandemic, such options have been made available.
Completion of the Census is important for Virginia to ensure that we receive the proper amount of federal funding.
