‘Skins Nab Young, NC Governor May Allow Race, Scully Hospitalized
Round 1 of the NFL’s “virtual draft” was held last night and as expected, the Washington Redskins chose Ohio State’s Chase Young as the second overall pick. It’s a homecoming of sorts for the defensive standout, as he hails from the DC suburb of Upper Marboro, Md. It also came as no surprise that LSU quarterback Joe Burrow was chosen as the first overall pick by the Bengals. Round 2 happens today.
North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said yesterday that he’s considering whether to allow NASCAR’s Coca Cola 600 to run on May 24th without fans. Cooper did say that NASCAR teams can operate in their race shops if they maintain social distancing, access that would be needed to prepare the cars if racing is to return.
And, 92 year-old broadcasting legend Vin Scully has been hospitalized after a fall in his home. The long-time LA Dodgers play-by-play voice
is said to be resting comfortably and is expected to be released soon. Scully retired from the broadcast booth in 2016 after 67 years at the mic.
