VBL Season Scratched, Brady’s Backup Signed, Wrestlemania 36 This Weekend
The Valley Baseball League has fallen victim to the Covid-19 pandemic. Last night, league commissioner Bruce Alger spoke to VHSV-TV in Harrisonburg and confirmed the cancelation of the 2020 VBL season. The VBL, an NCAA-sanctioned amateur league and the so-called “Gateway To The Majors,” has been a Shenandoah Valley fixture since 1897. The 2020 season was to have begun in June.
The Tampa Bay Bucaneers have signed Blaine Gabbert to be Tom Brady’s backup, according to USA Today. Gabbert was with the Bucs in 2019, but spent most of the season on injured reserve due to a dislocated shoulder.
Ed Farmer, a veteran radio broadcaster for the Chicago White Sox and retired MLB player, has died at age 70. farmer was a pitcher for a number of teams, including the Baltimore Orioles, as well as Cleveland, Detroit, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, Texas, Oakland, and the White Sox.
And Wrestlemania 36 is a “go” this weekend. For the first time, the long-running WWE signature event will be held in front of no fans, and will be held over 2 days. Some of the action has reportedly already been filmed. Wrestlemania 36 was originally scheduled for Tampa, but will now be held at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
