Nats Host Brewers This Weekend, Skins Fall To Bengals
The Washington Nationals return to action tonight when they host the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a 3-game weekend series. The Nats come in to the weekend at 65-55, atop the NL Wild Card standings, while the Brewers are 63-58, just one game back in the NL Central race. The Nationals will send Patrick Corbin to the hill tonight. Corbin is 9-5 on the season, and has a 1.78 ERA in 11 home starts. Air time is 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
Meanwhile, it’s being reported that Max Scherzer is close to a return to the National’s starting rotation as early as this weekend. Scherzer has been battling a back injury and has made just one start since the All-Star break.
The Baltimore Orioles are back in action tonight when they take on the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10.
The Washington Redskins fell to 0-2 in the NFL Preseason with a 23-13 loss to Cincinnati. After leading at the half 13-6, the ‘Skins were outscored 17-0 in the second half. First-round draft pick Dwayne Haskins was 7-of 14 for 114 yards and one TD pass for the Redskins, and Adrian Peterson rushed for 31 yards on 4 carries in limited play. Montae Nicholson had a pick-six for Washington, who will now take on the Falcons next Thursday in pre-season action.
And Justin Thomas and Jason Kokrak are tied for the lead after round one of the BMW Championship, as the PGA Tour playoffs continue. Both fired rounds of 7 under par at Medina Course Number 3.
