Nats & Skins Win, And Another Driver Calls It Quits…
The Washington Nationals took advantage of 3 Cardinals errors and held on for a 5-4 win last night in St. Louis. With the victory, the Nats finish a dismal 2-5 road trip on a positive note. Bryce Harper went 3-for-5, and Tanner Roark added 2 hits while picking up the win. It’s Max Scherzer on the hill tonight as the Nationals return home to face Miami. Air time is 6:30 on NBC SportsRadio 1450.
The Orioles were off last night. They’ll take on Cleveland tonight as they start a weekend road trip.
The Washington Redskins evened their preseason record at 1-1 with a 15-13 win over the New York Jets. Washington QB Alex Smith was sharp in his first and only series, hitting on 4 of 6 passes for 48 yards. The Skins were kept out of the end zone, but got 5 field goals from Dustin Hopkins. The Redskins host the Broncos next Friday night in critical “dress rehearsal” week 3 of the preseason.
Another NASCAR retirement announcement, as Kasey Kahne says he’ll step away from full-time racing after the 2018 season. Kahne has 31 combined NASCAR wins in his 17 seasons.
And, on the PGA Tour, Brandt Snedeker shot an 11-under 59 to take a one-shot lead after one round of the Wyndham Championship.
