Strasburg Evens VBL Series…Nats Head To Arizona…O’s Lose To Jays
In the Valley League baseball playoffs last night:
Strasburg evened it’s best-of-three semifinal against Woodstock with a 4-3 win over the River Bandits. And Charlottesville eliminated Covington with a 10-5 win in game three of their opening round series.
Tonight in the VBL playoffs:
Strasburg hosts Woodstock in a deciding game three of their semifinal series. The winner will move on the the VBL Championship Series.
Meanwhile, Charlottesville takes on Staunton in game one of the other semifinal.
The Washington Nationals get back into action tonight as they head to Arizona for 3 weekend games against the Diamondbacks. The Nationals start tonight’s play tied with the Phillies and Cubs for the first NL Wild Card spot at 57-51. Joe Ross gets the ball for the Nats. Air time is 9:10 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Baltimore Orioles were pounded 11-2 yesterday by Toronto. The Jays collected 14 hits, including 5 homers, as the teams played before an announced crowd of just 9,716 at Camden Yards. The two teams play again tonight at 7:05
And, the Washington Redskins have signed outside linebacker Garrett Sickles. The 6-4, 254 pound Sickels last played for the Rams in 2017, but was injured last season. The Skins take on the Browns Thursday night in their NFL pre-season opener.
