Caps Bow Out Of Bubble, O’s Lose To Bosox, Nats Back In Action Tonight
For the second straight year after winning the Stanley Cup in 2018, the Washington Capitals were eliminated in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs, with a 4-0 loss to the New York Islanders last night. With the 4 games to 1 series win, the Isles advance to the next round, while the Caps exit the NHL playoff “bubble” and face an uncertain future.
The Baltimore Orioles lost their 4th straight game, falling to the Boston Red Sox last night at Camden Yards. The Birds managed only 5 hits on the evening, as Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi went 7 innings and struck out 6. The two teams play tonight at 7:35.
The Nationals are back in action tonight to start a weekend series with the Miami Marlins. The 9-12 Nats will send Patrick Corbin to the mound against the 9-9 Fish. Air time is 5:35 on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera told ESPN yesterday that he’s been diagnosed with cancer of the neck. The 58 year-old Rivera said that the cancer is in it’s early stages and is very treatable and curable.
And Cal Ripken,Jr., baseball’s “iron man”, revealed that he is cancer free after having surgery in March to remove a tumor from his prostate.
