Hornet Holiday Hoop, Bowl Results, Caps Calm The ‘Canes
There’s plenty of basketball today at the Wilkins Center as the Shenandoah Hornets host 6 games over the next 2 days. At noon today, the SU women entertain Bethany, while the Hornet men host the Coast Guard in the 7pm game of the Hornet Holiday Tournement. The 5pm game has Eastern taking on Southern Virginia. The consolation and championship games will take place tomorrow at 5 & 7.

Baylor outlasted Vanderbilt in the Texas Bowl 45-38
In the Pinstripe Bowl, it was Wisconsin 35 Miami 3
And Duke outscored Temple in the Independence Bowl 56-27

WVU takes on Syracuse in the Camping World Bowl
It’s Purdue and Auburn in the Music City Bowl
And Iowa State plays Washington State in the Alamo Bowl
Tomorrow, Virginia will play South Carolina in the Belk Bowl
And Virginia Tech and Cincinnati clash Monday in the Military Bowl
The College Football Playoff semifinals take place tomorrow, as Alabama plays Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl, and Notre Dame battles Clemson in the Cotton Bowl Classic.
Braden Holtby stopped 28 shots as the Washington Capitals skated past Carolina last night in DC, 3-1. The Hurricanes cut the Cap’s 2-0 lead in half midway through the third period before John Carlson’s empty-net goal sealed the deal. The Caps are now 23-10-3.
And the Redskins try to wrap up their 2018 NFL season Sunday by playing spoiler. The 7-8 ‘Skins entertain the 8-7 Philadelphia Eagles at 4:25. The defending Super Bowl champs are still alive in the NFC Wild Card hunt, but need to beat the Redskins and hope for a Bears win over the Vikings.
The Ravens can secure an AFC playoff spot Sunday with a win over the Browns.
