Hokies Down Keydets, Baseball Cuts, College Football Schedule
In college hoop, number-16 Virginia Tech improved to 5-0 with a 64-57 win over gritty VMI. The Hokies placed 4 players in double figures, but never could pull away from the Keydets, who fell to 2-3. Tonight at 6, number-16 Virginia hosts Kent State, while 11th-ranked WVU heads to Georgetown Sunday for a 4:30 tip.
In college football this weekend, Virginia Tech will be under the prime time lights when they host number-3 Clemson at 7:30 tomorrow night. WVU is back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 3:30 clash at number-9 Iowa State. UVA hosts Botston College tomorrow at 3:30, while Liberty’s game with Coastal Carolina is canceled due to coronavirus concerns.
In off-season MLB news, a total of 59 players have been cut by their teams, apparently as fallout from the pandemic. Those cuts include Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs, and Adam Duvall of the Braves. With no fans in the stands in a shortened 2020 season, many teams are trying to cut expenses.
And, on the NFL weekend docket, The Washington Football Team will have to wait until Monday at 5pm to play the 11-0 Pittsburgh Steelers, while the Ravens will Take on the Cowboys Tuesday night at 8:05.
