HS Hoop Scoreboard…Caps Nip Avalanche In OT…Robinson Dies At 83

In area boy’s high school basketball last night:
William Monroe got past Skyline 46-41
Handley rolled over Kettle Run 67-47
Fredericksburg Christian outlasted RMA 54-49

In girl’s hoop:
Page nipped East Rockingham 33-30
Chelsea defeated Legacy Christian 38-32
William Monroe beat Skyline 55-37
Brentsville routed Warren County 58-22
St James had no trouble with SVCA 59-7
Foxcroft outlasted RMA 28-25

Shenandoah University men’s basketball travels to Lynchburg tomorrow for a 5:30 tip on the River 95-3. Also on the SU docket:
Womens basketball travels to Hollins for a 2pm Saturday tip-off,
Indoor track & field competes in the VMI Winter Relays today and tomorrow,
Women & Men’s lacrosse have 1pm games tomorrow against Hood,
and Men’s tennis hosts Penn State-Altoona Saturday at 7:30

In major college basketball,
Number-3 UVA hosts Number-2 Duke tomorrow at 6pm
11th ranked Virginia Tech plays at Clemson Saturday at noon
and WVU entertains Texas tomorrow night at 8.

Evgeny Kuznetsov scored twice, including the game winner in OT, in a 4-3 Capitals win last night in DC. With the win, the Caps have now won 3 of their last 4, as they get set to host Florida tomorrow night at 7. You can hear the action on Sports Radio 1450.

And, legendary baseball great Frank Robinson lost his battle with cancer yesterday. Robinson helped lead the Orioles to 4 World Series appearances in his 6 years in Baltimore. Robinson also broke the managerial color barrier in Major League Baseball and was the first skipper of the Washington Nationals, as well as an MVP in each league. He was 83.
