Caps Open With Win, NFL Divisional Round Schedule, College Hoop Slate

The Washington Capitals opened their 2021 season last night with a 6-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres. TJ Oshie led the way with a goal and 2 assists for Washington, which had six different players light the lamp. The Caps and Sabres face off again tonight in Buffalo starting at 6:45 on The River 95-3 and CBS Sports radio 1450.

There are four NFL Divisional Round games set for this weekend. Tomorrow, the action starts at 4:35 with the LA Rams visiting Aaron Rodgers in an NFC matchup and the Green Bay Packers. At 8:15, the Bills host the Ravens in an AFC clash. On Sunday, the Chiefs entertain the Browns in an AFC contest, and at 6:40 the Saints host the Bucs in an NFC pairing of two 40-plus year-old quarterbacks in Drew Brees and Tom Brady.

In college basketball this weekend, number-20 Virginia Tech travels to Wake Forest for a Sunday 6pm tip off. Number-18 Virginia plays at 12th-ranked Clemson Sunday at 6. And the WVU basketball program is on hold due to coronavirus issues.

And, the Jacksonville Jaguars have hired Urban Meyer as their new head coach. It’s the first NFL job for the 56 year-old Meyer, who won 3 national championships in the college ranks. He most recently was an analyst for Fox Sports.
