Area Hoop Scores, Caps Sink Islanders, College Basketball Sched
In boys’ high school basketball lasty night, Page downed Luray 69-38. In girls’ action, Brentsville defeated Skyline 42-34, while Handley outscored Liberty 37-26.
The Washington Capitals dug out of a 3-0 first period hole with a 5-goal barrage in the second, and beat the New York Islanders 6-3. The Caps tallied 4 goals in a 5-minute span of the second stanza on the way to their 5th win of the season. The Capitals set a franchise mark with at least a point in their first eight games. On the college basketball slate this weekend, number-8 Virginia takes on number-20 Virginia Tech in Blacksburg tomorrow at 6. Number-11 WVU hosts Florida tomorrow at 2.
On the Shenandoah University schedule, Track & Field will be at the VMI Winter Relays today. Women’s Basketball plays at Bridgewater tonight at 7. Tomorrow, Men’s Basketball heads to Roanoke for a 7pm tip. Sunday, Women’s Basketball travels to Lynchburg for a 1pm contest, while Wrestling grapples Ferrum at 5…weather permitting.
