VBL Update, Nats Start Homestand With A Thud, US Open Leaderboard

Covington nipped Woodstock 7-5
Staunton beat Harrisonburg 9-2

The Washington Nationals were blanked last night by Zack Greinke and the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0. The Nats, who began an 11-game homestand, managed only 3 hits on the evening, as they fell 8 1/2 games back in the NL East. Trea Turner had a 2-for-4 night for the Nationals, who take on the D-Backs again tonight at 6:35 on Sports Radio 1450.
The Toronto Blue Jays pounded out 17 hits against the Baltimore Orioles last night in a 12-3 rout at Camden Yards. the O’s start a weekend series at home against the Boston Red Sox tonight at 7:05.
Justin Rose leads the US Open golf tournament after day one. Rose fired a 66 yesterday at the famed Pebble Beach golf links to lead by one shot over 4 golfers, including Rickie Fowler. Brooks Koepka, trying for an unprecedented three-peat at The Open, is 4 shots back, while Tiger Woods is at minus-1. Day 2 of the US Open begins today.
And the Toronto Raptors are the NBA Champions after a 114-110 road win at Golden State last night. The Raptors took the NBA Finals 4 games-to-2.
