UVA & WVU Advance…Tech Falls To FSU…Caps Back To Winning Ways
On the Shenandoah University sports scene,
Men and Women’s Golf both have the lead at the halfway point of the Shenandoah Spring Invitational in St. Cloud, Florida. The me posted a collective 315 yesterday, good for a 7-stroke lead over Southern Virginia. The Women have a commanding 30-stroke lead over Marymount after yesterday’s play. The tournament continues today.

In college hoop, UVA outscored NC State 49-27 in the second half on the way to a 76-56 win in the ACC Basketball Tournament. The Cavs, now 29-2, will take on 4th-seeded Florida State tonight at 7 in the semifinals.
The Seminoles get to play Virginia tonight by virtue of their 65-63 overtime win over Virginia Tech yesterday. Terance Mann’s game winning shot with less than 2 seconds left was the difference. The 24-8 Hokies now await their NCAA Tournament seeding on Sunday.
The West Virginia Mountaineers continued their unlikely run through the Big-12 Tournament by stunning 7th-ranked Texas Tech last night, 79-74. The 10th seeded Mounties will now play Kansas tonight in the semifinal round. Tip off is at 9pm.
The Washington Capitals returned to their winning ways with a 5-2 win last night in Philadelphia. Brett Connolly scored twice and added an assist for the Caps, who have won 8 of their last 9 games. The Capitals are back in action tomorrow at 7 against Tampa Bay on CBS Sports Radio 1450.
In golf, Keegan Bradley and Tommy Fleetwood share the first round lead at the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass. Both shot 7-under par. Tiger Woods is 5 shots back after a 2-under par 70.
And, three archers from Front Royal Christian School, placed tier one status at the Virginia State Archery Tournament in Doswell recently.
Fifth graders Malena Haworth, Sarah Tutton, Alyssa Smelser, along with the High School team, will now head to the US Eastern Nationals in Kentucky in May.
