LLWS Canceled, NASCAR Confirms May 17th Opening, Dalton Released
Add another sporting event to the long list of cancelations and postponements due to the coronavirus. The Little League World Series, held each August in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, has been scratched. In addition, the championship tournaments in the other six divisions of Little League have been called off. It’s the first time the Little League World series has been called off since it’s inception in 1947.
NASCAR confirmed yesterday that it’s season will resume on May 17th with a Cup series race at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina. It’ll be the first of 7 races over 11 days in NASCAR’s top 3 series, with no fans at any of those events. Drivers will have to self-isolate in their motor homes as they prepare to compete. NASCAR suspended it’s season back in March after only 4 races.
And, the Cincinnati Bengals have released quarterback Andy Dalton, clearing the way for Heisman Trophy-winning Joe Burrow, who the team picked first overall in the recent NFL Draft. Dalton, who played 9 seasons in Cincy, had one year left on his contract.
